CM praises Yong, Fadilah for their services
KUCHING: Chief Minister Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud urged the people in the Petra Jaya and Stampin parliamentary constituencies to vote for the BN candidates who have tested and have proven themselves capable in serving the people.
He said Datuk Fadilah Yusof, the Barisan Nasional candidate for Petra Jaya had proven himself and had the willingness to represent the people. That was why he had risen and appointed as deputy federal minister.
“He also can voice and give suggestions about the area (Petra Jaya) and what should be done to solve problems with the growing populace in this area,” he said when officiating at the site alignment of a new four-lane road from E-mart to Batu Kawa near the E-Mart at Matang here yesterday.
Taib also said the backgrounds of BN candidates and record were carefully assessed which was better than listening to what people say about a candidate.
“Untested and unproven candidates are an unknown risk. But we know old candidates as long as they can serve. We know their weaknesses but we also know we can depend on them because if they say they want to do something, more likely than not they will be able to do it and not make empty promises,” he stressed.
He said the Barisan Nasional candidate for Stampin Dato’ Yong Khoon Seng is a good, honest man, quiet and humble but one who does his work with total commitment. He is a graduate in pharmacy from an Australian university.
Hence, the late Datuk Amar Stephen Yong had picked and groomed him.
He said the people in the Stampin constituency knew how Khoon Seng had faithfully served his constituency.
He therefore urged the people in the Stampin constituency not to take Yong for granted.
“When you vote for him you know you will not lose anything. If you don’t vote for him but vote for a new person, you are going through a testing period. These two candidates (Fadilah and Yong) are had proven themselves and have the desire to serve the people regardless of whether they are Malays, Chinese, Iban and others,” Taib said.
