Former Maktab Sultan Abu Bakar principal declared leadership figure
JOHOR BAHARU: Former Maktab Sultan Abu Bakar principal Zulkipli Mahmud has been declared Leadership Figure (Tokoh Kepimpinan), in conjunction with the Johor state-level Teacher’s Day celebration held at the Pusat Islam Iskandar Johor here yesterday. He was presented the Leadership Figure award by Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
Zulkipli, 60, who has a degree and diploma in education from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), began his career as a teacher on 18 April, 1971 and ended his services on 18 March, 2011. Always striving to give his best in the line of work, he was also active in the field of dance and became adviser to the Johor Art and Culture Park. He was recipient of the Active Teacher, Leader and Principal Award in 1983, 1998, 2003 and 2006, as well as the Johor Cultural Activist Award in 1985 and 1986.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Tunggal, 66, was declared Teacher Figure (Tokoh Guru) in conjunction with the state-level Teacher’s Day celebration here.The Al-Azhar University graduate started his career as an Islamic Studies teacher in 1976 and retired on 25 Aug, 2003.
The father of four is still active in religion and holds various posts, including the Yang Dipertua Khaujakan Johor, Imam of the Al Manar Mosque in Muar, Takmir teacher in suraus and mosques, marriage official and zakat collector.
Ahmad, who was formerly Johor Education Department Dakwah Assistant Director, has also received the Johor Excellent Teacher Award in 1996, Johor Excellect Religious Teacher Figure Aware in 2000 and the Johor Maal Hijrah Award in 2003. - Bernama
