MV Logos Hope is here again

KUCHING: MV Logos Hope, carrying the world largest  floating book fair  and an international crew of 400 people which last  visited Kuching in October 2011  is now back here in Kuching.

The ship which arrived here from the Philippines on 11 July is now berthed at  Sim Kheng Hong Port, Pending here. The ship will open to the public until 1 August.

The official opening of the Book Fair to the public here was launched yesterday by Minister of Infrastructure Development and Communications Dato Sri Michael Manyin anak Jawong.

At the official opening, there were a video presentation  on Logos Hope, a Parade of Nations and Korean Fan Dance by crews.

The book fair on board Logos Hope offers an expanded selection of over 5,000 books at affordable prices. They cover a range of subjects including  science, sports, hobbies, cookery, the arts, medicine, dictionaries, languages, and philosophy.

With children’s titles, academic texts,  dictionaries, atlases and more, the book fair  is something the whole family can enjoy.

Additionally, the rest of the Visitors Experience Deck is also open for the public to explore. From the Welcome Area, which introduces the new vessel through a short movie and interactive displays, to the International Café, which has ice cream, drinks and snack for sale, there is sure to be something for everyone.

MV Logos Hope will open to the public till 1August. Opening hours are from 10.00am to 9.30pm from Wednesday through Saturday, from 1.00pm to 9.30pm on Sundays and 2.00pm till 9.30pm on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Ticket costs RM1 each;  with children under 12 given free entry, but must be accompanied by an adult.

Logos Hope is operated by GBA Ships e.V., an international, charitable organisation registered in Germany. In almost 40 years of service, the organisation has welcomed 40 million visitors  up the gangways in over 160 countries and territories around the world.
